The Starting Point

Education is more than just the handing down of knowledge and skills. It closely relates to, and often overlaps with, tradition, which is the handing down of customs and practices. Christian education begins with the very clear command from God to educate our children in His ways:

You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul... You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
— Deuteronomy 11:18-19 (ESV)

Because God is the creator of all things and His word speaks to every area of life, there is no school subject, field of employment, or cultural practice that falls outside of His authority. We begin by teaching our children what God’s word says and how we are to practice His commands, and then we show them how to apply it in every area of life. There is no “neutral” education – either the education your children receive acknowledges God’s authority or denies it.

All this is why Clermont Christian School educates students with a holistic and integrated Christian curriculum. A holistic Christian curriculum shows students how God has designed every part of life. An integrated Christian curriculum shows students how God has designed these parts to interact and build upon one another. The Bible is not relegated to a chapel service or worldview class, it is the starting point of all our study.
