2023-2024 In Review

If you would have your learning stay,
Be patient—don’t learn too fast;
The man who travels a mile each day,
May get ’round the world at last.

This year our homeschool enrichment program met two mornings per week at East River Church in Batavia. We served six students ranging from Kindergarten to Third Grade. They memorized Scripture and poetry, sang songs, enjoyed great artists and composers, studied our planet and solar system, practiced math concepts through drills and games, and learned Latin through stories.

The students’ favorite parts of class included:

  • our science demonstrations,

  • learning the games and dances from our music curriculum,

  • acting out Latin stories with props, and

  • imitating the pictures of the great artists we studied.

We’ll wrap up the school year with a Recitation - a short presentation of some of this year’s learning. We are so thankful for the families who participated in our inaugural program and for the assistants (Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Cline) and substitutes (Mrs. Arn and Mrs. Barnes) who helped Mrs. Weis in the classroom.

In addition to celebrating our year in the classroom, we are also celebrating other organizational successes - we received our 501(c)(3) determination and raised $3,400 for our scholarship fund through the Ohio Christian Education Network. East River Church is finishing the build-out of its new classrooms and we look forward to returning to the space in the fall.

Praise God for this school year and join us in praying for a great 2024-2025!
